Learning to trust God in anxiety-how to stop worrying for the Christian bride-to-be
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah17:7-8
Blessed is the bride-to-be who trusts in the Lord!
I recently learned that being blessed means being fortunate and very happy. So next time you say,” God bless you,” you are saying: I hope God makes you very fortunate and happy. As we are entering 2024, I was wondering if I really trusted my Lord for this year after all these years of walking with him.
Do I believe in His power to solve any problems I may face this new year? Do I believe that I can rest assured in his hands?
It’s not just you, bride; we all are tempted to lose our joy and happiness when we allow the world's troubles to sink into our hearts.
We are expectant about the future because we have struggled with feelings of loneliness and inadequacy even before.
In this Bible verse, I shared with you, Jeremiah tells us that those who trust in the Lord will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its root by the stream; it does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green.
His will for you and me has always been that we reach our roots in the streams of living water, which is Jesus.
Sometimes, my roots are so tiny that God allows his streams of water to grow so they can touch my roots, and I can grow in the middle of the chaos.
If we are not mindful of what we allow into our lives, the news that we watch on television, as well as on social media, can lead us to anxiety and depression.
Sometimes, it is how the enemy works by installing fortresses of fear in our minds so we can live in terror of the future or the things to come.
We fear what, most of the time, will never happen, and we lose the joy and the strength of today by doing so.
We forget that God is who is taking care of us, the one who is in control of everything, the one who holds the future in his hands. Do I believe that God, who sent his son to die for me on the cross, will leave me or forsake me?
The last time I stared at some little birds, I could not resist pondering this beautiful Bible verse: “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Matthew 6:26
If we are more valuable than birds, how will the Lord not care for us and the ones we love? How can he leave us alone with my fears and anxiety?
The bride who believes and trusts in God’s word does not have to fear when times of drought come. When the pressures of life come, her leaves will always be green.
She will not faint, and she will not be tormented with exhausting and debilitating thoughts about the future.
I choose to believe that if I continue abiding in Jesus, I will continue carrying fruits even in times of drought.
Today, I just wanted to share with you these thoughts so you can decide along with me to trust in the Lord for this year, too.
He will be with us as He has been with us in the past, just as He promised. I thank the Holy Spirit who lives in me. I trust that He will help me to produce fruit even in these times of drought.
I believe my Lord is a God of mercy and compassion for his people, especially for those who sometimes feel like shaking.
If we allow Him, He will help us even to believe that He will finish that good work that started in us and that, in the end, everything will work for our good as we love our Lord with all our hearts, souls, and strength.
Take care♥
